I admire Anderson Silva for many reasons, but the biggest reason I admired him after his victory this past weekend is his sportsmanship. Chael Sonnen has run his mouth for the past 2 years, and has left no subject untouched. He insulted him, his family, his country, and his coaches. Yet with grace he was able to shake that same man’s hand after the fight and crack jokes about inviting him over for a bar-b-que. That is impressive.
In case you missed the fight, check it out here although this is a bootleg version of the fight. All the good stuff got taken down by youtube
And here’s the post fight conference. Equally entertaining except for the Tito Ortiz scripted monologues.
Chael- “I’m always trying to find that good shot that can change the fight….I wasn’t able to find it.”
Chael- “You get knocked down sometimes…you gotta learn to shake things off…every single day you gotta get up.”
Chael on the knee to the chest- “I don’t care about legal or illegal. I could see it coming and that’s just the way it goes”
